Aydin Hamami (American, b. 1988) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. A first-generation Turkish-American raised on the East Coast of the US, Hamami's multicultural upbringing has come to be instrumental in his studio practice, with issues of heritage and identity merging with themes of memory, loss, and alienation. After relocating to LA in 2022, his work has shifted away from abstract painting into a murkier, less defined space of creating objects which reference painting and sculpture without firmly existing within the context of either. The resulting works become objects of meditation rather than representation, meant to interact with the viewer in the form of a silent, contemplative exchange.
